I have a B.S. in Chemistry and a Master's degree in Engineering Management. In the course of completing those degrees, I completed a number of courses in advanced math including probability and statistics.
Currently, I'm the Director of the Quality Management group at a Fortune 300 company. As part of my duties, I have taught introductory descriptive and inferential statistics to students learning process improvement techniques for over 8 years. I have tutored students for Huntington Learning Center and Above Grade Level in the past. I have over 3 years experience tutoring students in SAT math, statistics, geometry, and algebra.
I like to use the EDGE method for teaching/learning a new skill. EDGE is a 4-step process where you first Explain what you are doing. For Math this might be some of the theory for a problem or maybe formulas that need to be used. The 2nd step is Demonstrate. I'll show students how to work example problems. The 3rd step is Guide. After Explaining and Demonstrating, I'll ask students to work a problem themselves. I will help and prompt as needed to help the student work through the problem. The 4th step is Enable. After the first three steps, I will let the students work through the problems without any intervention on my part. If needed, we'll repeat the steps until the student becomes proficient.
I also enjoy teaching students techniques for succeeding in SAT math. I work with students to help them comprehend both the math skills and strategy necessary to achieve high math scores on the SAT. I help them understand how "elimination", or "pick your own answer" can help solve common SAT math problems.
I especially enjoy teaching statistics. I like to use everyday situations and data sets to demonstrate principles. One of my favorites is comparing the colors of M&Ms in packages to see if the number of yellow is different from green or blue.
I look to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies. I have a B.S. in Chemistry and a Master's degree in Engineering Management. In the course of completing those degrees, I completed a number of courses in advanced math including probability and statistics.

Barry is currently helping me get ready for my SAT COMING December. I cannot ask for a better tutor. He is patient, knowledgeable and clear. I recommend him any time to anyone for tutoring.
My daughter had so much more confidence, even with one lesson. Afterwards she told me that his tutoring helped her to understand things that she hadn't before. More sessions will be scheduled, because he is an excellent tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a B.S. in Chemistry and a Masters in Engineering Management. Both degrees required a number of advanced math classes. I have over 2 years experience tutoring students in Algebra, SAT math, and geometry for Huntington Learning Center.
I have completed undergraduate probability classes. I also have completed graduate level statistics for engineers and scientists. I teach descriptive and inferential statistics internally at a Fortune 300 company.
