About Jennifer

I have recently graduated from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a concentration in Art History.
In school, I quickly learned that it is one thing to memorize facts, dates, artist bios, or an artwork’s historical/aesthetic significance and another thing to understand why color smeared across a canvas, a urinal placed in a museum space, or a man’s tattered bed sheets on a museum’s walls constitute as works of art just as much as works that adhere to traditional subject matter and idealistic representation. I also learned that an individual’s ability to face art with an indifference to the ideals that defined “good” art in the past is something far more valuable than the ability to retain/reiterate copious amounts of historical information.

Why am I seeking an opportunity to tutoring? Aside from following my desired career path, I want to do for others what my education in Art History has done for me. My studies at Georgia College and State University conditioned me to not only approach art, but also various individuals, cultures, races, ideologies, philosophies, religious beliefs, and other aspects that influence a society with an open heart and an open mind. For this reason, I consider the values I obtained through my studies as gifts, and ones that I would like, if at all possible, to pass on to others.

My goal may seem overreaching, and perhaps it would be for an individual who lacks the motivation and passion I expressed above, but my devotion to the study of Art History as well as those individuals willing to embrace its values is stronger than ever. Long story short- let me help you.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
