I've been an educator for many years starting with teaching Early Childhood classes in parochial, private and public schools for 16 years. This time included specific work as part of the Capital District Writing Project teaching writing to students, especially TAG middle schoolers, tutoring students with college essays, and providing professional development to teachers on how to teach writing.
After a MS in Reading with an emphasis on Writing, I accepted a fellowship for my Doctorate. The PhD was followed by 8 years as Assistant Director of Adult Literacy, part time Writing instruction in a two year College and in an incarcerated youth program and 2 years back at the University as Executive Director for the NYS Literacy Resource Center managing $4M in grants in Adult Literacy.
My public experience was followed by 10 years as an Education specialist in technology companies, and finally teaching Education and Writing courses both part and full time for various colleges. During this time, I also continued to consult on Education and technology issues.
I have had many successful experiences in teaching Writing. I truly enjoy using the Writing Process and tutoring and teaching Writing. I have had many wonderful experiences with students. I have students that I taught ten years ago, who still keep in touch with me.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a semi-retired Education Professor. In my tenure as a professor, I have counseled undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. I have also taught Writing , Literacy instructional methods, Research and general Education courses. Besides my PhD, I also have a MS in Reading with an emphasis on Writing. Prior to my college teaching experience, I taught K-12 grades, served as state Assistant Director of Adult Education, ran a college research center and spent ten years in technology companies as their Education area specialist.
