Liberty University (TESL)
As a 2012 graduate of Liberty University with a major in Teaching English as a Second Language and a minor in Spanish, I have developed proficiency in Spanish and have studied abroad in Guatemala while teaching English. I have amounted teaching experience as a Tutor of English as a second language of all grade levels k-12 through volunteer hours and an internship at a local private school in Guatemala. Other experiences are private one on one English tutoring which includes being a conversation partner, helping with homework, and teaching grammar. Also, working in the English Language Institute at my college allowed me to build strong relationships with students and see them succeed and gain confidence from the time I invested to help them. Through these experiences, I've learned how to teach individuals from varying cultures and some of the most successful teaching methods.
At the present time, I am teaching English to elementary school students in Guatemala. This position enables me to build relationships with my students and implement study plans that equip them with a strong foundation in mastering the English language. I am challenged to be creative, nurturing and most of all, persistent. Watching them improve in their skills, grow in self-esteem, and develop a true passion to learn more has been one of the most rewarding experiences.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a recent graduate majoring in teaching English as a Second Language. I have completed an internship in Guatemala where I taught and tutored English to Hispanics of all ages. Through this, I have gained cultural experience and picked up new teaching techniques so I can help and connect with my students better.
As well as teaching English, I also have taken Spanish courses all throughout high school and college. Studying abroad in Panama, Costa Rica, and Guatemala have given me a rich foundation and understanding of the diversity in dialects and culture in Latin America. I have also learned the formal Spanish from Spain in some of my advanced college courses.
I've given swim lessons at my local YMCA and have been a lifeguard for several years. I also swam on a competitive swim team throughout high school. I continued to swim competitively in college on a division 1 swim team until the end of my sophomore year.
