Hi, my name is Angelita. You may call me "Angel" because it is easier to remember and I also love it. I'm 33 years old and happily married. I'm from the Philippines and I am a graduate of Ateneo De Zamboanga University, a Catholic school owned and managed by American and Filipino Jesuit priests in Southern Philippines. I majored in Education specializing in teaching English. I pursued my graduate school study at Cebu Normal University. I earned 33 semester credit hours of graduate study in English Language Teaching. These two Philippine universities are accredited institutions of higher education here in the United States.
I love nature! I love Stone Mountain Park and Amicalola Falls. When I am not working, I love to read books in my indoor garden and also watch Foreign movies such as Koreans, French, Spanish and Chinese. I love my life here in America. I also like to go swimming during summer and I love the white sand beaches in Florida.
When I was teaching English in China, I used to write articles for my blog. The articles are mostly about my adventures in Philippines and China with some exciting classroom experiences.
I have been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) for 10 years. I have taught young and adult students from Germany, Japan, China, South Korea, France, Jordan and the Philippines. Majority of my students were professionals and college students who were interested in learning English for personal and professional reasons. I mostly use the communicative approach in teaching English as a Second Language. My students are given more opportunity to express themselves and I only correct them when they finish expressing their ideas. After five exciting years of teaching English as a Second Language in the Philippines, I was accepted to teach ESL to college students in China. I worked in China for three years. I handled 20 different classes of Computer Engineering and Computer Programming students. I used multimedia in presenting my lessons. I chose good dialogues from great movies and made my own audio visual presentation using Microsoft Power point, Movie Maker, Power Point and Microsoft Excel.
I have been teaching ESOL to kindergarten to 5th-grade students in Fulton County Schools in Georgia. I also supported our ELL students in science, social studies, ELA, reading, and math.
Learning English can be fun and I will help you achieve your goals in learning English in an exciting way. I can teach English Grammar, Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. I have different materials that will fit the specific needs of my students to make learning more interesting and engaging.
My sessions are friendly and conversational. I always make sure that my students learn something new in each lesson and use the new learning in communicating with other people who speak English. My various teaching experiences have made me confident and effective in my chosen profession as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher. I love to help my students become confident and effective English speakers.
I have completed my Master's Degree in English as a Second Language in December 2016. I have learned valuable strategies in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from my graduate school degree, and I am confident that I am able to give the right supports that would fit the individual needs of my students.
My goal is to improve my students' English communication skills in order for them to express their thoughts and feelings in English. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently teaching ESOL classes to K-5 students in Fulton County Schools. I also have supported in math, science, ELA, reading, and social studies in the general education setting. Our school aligns all our curriculum to the Georgia Common Core Standards of Excellence.
I have a level 5 certification in P-5 with master's in English as a Second Language.
I have successfully completed my degree in Bachelor of Elementary Education major in English Language Teaching with 33 credit hours in Graduate School. I have taught in private Elementary School in the Philippines for over 2 years and also worked with several summer and winter camps for International Elementary and High School students from Japan, China and South Korea.
I have taught English as a Second Language (ESL) for over 10 years. I taught ESL in Philippines and China. I have also conducted online lessons using skype. I have students from Germany, Japan, France, Australia and South Korea. Teaching English is interesting and I love my job!
I have over 10 years of various ESL/ESOL experiences with different students from different age groups and nationalities. I have taught in Elementary school level in the Philippines for 2 years. I have worked in different language training centers with students from South Korea, Japan, Germany, France and China for over 5 years. I was an English Instructor in Suzhou Institute of Software Technology in China for 3 years. Lastly, I have worked as a Marketing Executive/Manager in a Business Process Outsourcing Industry in the Philippines, which introduced me to a new level of experience when it comes to dealing with international business owners and executives.
Grammar is very important part of learning a language. I always integrate grammar points in every discussion or lesson presentation. Grammar gives the student more confidence in expressing himself in a more precise manner without being misunderstand.
I have tutored Grade School and High School students when I was working as a teacher in the Philippines. I helped the students in preparing their school projects and in studying for their school examinations. I prepared review materials based on their lessons and the test scope.
Teaching vocabulary has been a big part in my ESL/ESOL teaching career. It is my goal to help my students acquire and retain more vocabulary lists in order to communicate effectively. For example, in teaching reading, there are always new words that need to be unlocked before asking the students to answer some comprehension checkup questions.
