Dear ESL learner,
My name is Candace, and I am a certified ESL/TEFL teacher with teaching experience in a classroom setting. I have a great passion for teaching, especially the English language because I am a fan of learning languages myself. I have a pretty good knowledge of the Spanish language as well. I can teach adults or children. I taught English for 3 months as a volunteer ESL teacher for an organization called the English Learning Center, in Minneapolis Minnesota, which is where I am originally from. I also spent 8 months in Costa Rica studying Spanish and Environmental Studies. I am currently working on finishing my Bachelors Degree in Environmental Studies, but I have a lot of free time on my hands and would greatly enjoy dedicating that time to teaching. I love to work with students one-on-one to give them the time and attention that each student deserves and needs. In order for a student to be the greatest learner they can be, they must have a teacher who is completely dedicated to their learning, and I believe that I am. I work with each student closely to determine their style of learning, because each student learns in their own unique way, and then I develop a personal teaching style based on their individual learning technique. I have a pretty flexible schedule, but prefer to teach in the afternoons and weekends. I can't wait to get started teaching! Dear ESL learner,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
