I have been teaching and tutoring elementary students for at least 10 years or more. I became interested in teaching and tutoring kids in 2005. At that time, I was the coordinator of a grant-based tutoring program at a local elementary school.

I have been teaching and tutoring elementary students for at least 10 years or more. I became interested in teaching and tutoring kids in 2005. At that time, I was the coordinator of a grant-based tutoring program at a local elementary school.

As the coordinator of this after-school tutoring program, I collaborated with teachers to help improve students' reading and math skills. Honestly, I really did not think much about becoming an educator. I say this because I began playing basketball at the age of eight.

I also was a sports fanatic. I simply loved playing and watching football and basketball on the television. I was the little girl in the neighborhood who played with the boys to toughen myself up to become one of the elite competitors in girls' basketball. I always saw myself becoming a professional athlete or working in the fields of sports as an athletic trainer.

I went to college to heighten my chances of pursuing a career in sports. After injuring my knees several times while playing basketball, I focused less on becoming a professional player and more on earning my Bachelor's Degree.

I have been teaching and tutoring elementary students for 11+ years. During the year of 2005, I began working as a substitute teacher for the local school district as well as a coordinator of a grant-based tutoring program at a local elementary school. As the coordinator of this after-school tutoring program, I collaborated with many teachers to help improve students' reading and math skills. I never thought in a billion years that I would take pleasure in teaching. Working with different students turned out to be great experience. One of the teachers that I worked with in the tutoring program became my mentor. She encouraged me to go to back to school to get a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. So, I did just that. In July of 2009, I officially became a certified teacher with the local school district. Beginning August 3rd of 2009, I began teaching/tutoring all core subjects (Reading, Grammar, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies) in 2nd grade at another local elementary school. I also have had the opportunity to teach all of the core subjects in both 3rd and 4th grades. I am also certified to teach Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies in grades 6th - 8th.
