I have been an educator since 1989. I have worked as the Center Director and Director of Education for the Sylvan Learning Center in Columbus, as a middle school teacher for Muscogee County, as an elementary teacher for Cobb County and as a middle school teacher for Georgia Cyber Academy. I have tutored students individually since 2007.
I specialize in teaching basic math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and reading comprehension. I've also helped students (both children and adults) in test preparation including SAT, ACT and ASVAB. I am currently a certified teacher (K-8 in all subject areas) in the state of Georgia.
Math is my specialty. I really enjoy teaching math including solving word problems. I'm skilled at making math easy to understand and I've developed some of my own methods that have helped my students achieve high math grades.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a Georgia certified teacher (T4 certification) for all subjects Kindergarten through 8th grade. In a school setting, I taught 4th grade.
I have homeschooled students in the past. I have mostly worked with the EBeka program that most local homescoolers use. My duties with Georgia Cyber Academy, were to work with various students using a Georgia approved homeschool program that is offered online.
I have taken courses in Public Speaking: one in high school and the other in college. I received no less than an "A-" on any speech I gave and thus I earned an "A" in both courses. I have also spoken in public any number of times. As an educator, I have been invited to speak at PTA meetings in both public and private schools.
