Music has always been a part of my everyday life. I started my music/singing career at the age of three. I continued my musical journey through college, receiving a Master's Degree in Music Education/Vocal Music and graduating Magna Cum Laude. I was the first recipient of The Theodore Pressor Award For Excellence, received many music/vocal scholarships, as well as always remaining on the Dean's List throughout college. My teaching and performing experience spans over 30 years. My motto is "Always work hard and continue to learn, absorb, and apply your craft. It was given to us to nourish and help others to achieve, therefore we achieve. Work your craft and watch it work for you."
I believe that all work must be taken seriously and no excuses are allowed! All work should be treated as if we have already achieved the desired results that we are seeking. Reading with understanding, asking questions for clarity, studying, absorbing, retaining the information studied and absorbed (not just for the purposes of test taking), and being able to apply that knowledge is the key to success in completing all tasks.
I received a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Music Education/Vocal P-12. I taught for over 15 years in the public and private school system. My emphasis is in General Music, Music Theory, Musical History, Musical Aesthetics, Vocal Training/Coaching, as well as Theatrical Training/Coaching.
I am an instructor who believes in accountability, therefore I hold myself as well as my students to a very high standard of learning! I provide quality training and I expect that those whom I train will receive the knowledge, absorb it, and present that knowledge to the world to help others achieve that same or better quality! I am here for you to ensure that your learning experience will be extraordinary! I look forward to facilitating your educational needs! Music has always been a part of my everyday life. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to teach and tutor in General Music due to my teaching experience in the public and private school systems. I received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music Education P-12. I require that my students engage in hands-on activities as well as develop sound study habits, and that they are able to apply the educational experiences.
I am qualified to teach and tutor Voice because I received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Vocal Music. I have been a vocal coach for over 15 years. Some of the procedures/steps that I use when teaching voice are to first establish and work diligently on proper and correct breath control, correct posture, enunciation, pronunciation, delivery, correct vocal placement of consonants and vowels, delivery and interpretation of the vocal selections to name a few. I require that each student is able to master each of these levels.
