About Sarah

Bio

I am a former high school English teacher with four years' experience teaching adult ESL. I am working as a tutor now because I enjoy working with individuals and small groups instead of large classes. I am willing to work with students of any age.

My students have described me as friendly, caring, fun, and a good teacher. I listen carefully to them to see what their difficulties are, how they learn best, and what they enjoy. I try to find activities that are both fun and practical.

Best Tutor My Son Has Ever Had

This review is long overdue. My only hesitation in sending it now is because Sarah will be in even more demand! LOL Sarah began tutoring my 13-year old son every week for 1.5 hours from last October until now. Our goal from October to January was to improve his writing and grammar skills in order to pass the mandatory 8th Grade Writing Test. After he successfully passed the writing test, his tutoring lessons then evolved into a focus on Algebra & Geometry. My son has now been promoted to the 9th grade and received B's in all of his classes. Sarah is very knowledgeable of multiple subjects, very patient and has a calm way about her. Sarah also goes the extra mile for her students, making herself available before major tests/projects, writing notes to teachers, etc. When you first meet Sarah, you will probably think that she is quiet and shy. That may be true to a point but she is not a pushover and has a witty sense of humor. She has a knack for explaining and showing concepts to my son in a way that he easily understands. They have great interaction and Sarah does not become frustrated when his teenage energy tries to divert him into bouncing off the walls. She is able to keep my son focused and on task without any resentment from him. I have already referred Sarah to one of my friends. I will continue to use Sarah's services occasionally throughout the summer and back on our regular weekly schedule at the beginning of the next school year. As my son stated after his first lesson with Sarah "this is the best tutor that I have ever had".
