I'm Leah B. I've been a classroom teacher for over 18 years. I have experience teaching pre-k, kindergarten, first grade, and third grade. Being a teacher has been a fulfilling and successful career path for me. It’s a complete privilege to work with children and their families and watch them flourish academically. Meeting the individual needs of all children with enthusiasm, compassion, and creativity are incredibly important to me.
After 9 years of commuting, I've decided to take a break from the classroom to spend more time with my family. I will miss being in the classroom. I am excited to have the opportunity to work one -on- one or in a small group setting a a tutor. I look forward to working with your beautiful children and helping them reach their maximum academic potential.
As a math tutor, I will make learning math fun! Many young students are tactile learners. I believe early learners learn best with hands on activities using manipulatives. It's also critical to teach basic number facts and patterns. I will also teach your child how to become a critical thinker when completing math activities. Elementary math is a spiraling curriculum; therefore it's important to have a good basic foundation.
I love reading and writing. It's such a joy when the "light goes on" for reading. It's crucial to teach basic phonics skills for beginning and emergent readers. Word families also play a crucial role in assisting children with reading skills. I will also incorporate learning games to make our reading experience enjoyable for your child. Leveled readers are also a great way to enhance reading skills.
It's so important for children to know about the world we live in. I enjoyed teaching map skill in my classroom. I would also teach map skill and discuss communities in my lessons. Children enjoy learning about other cultures and how other children live in their particular part of the world.
I look forward to meeting all of your wonderful learners!!! Together with your families, we will make your learning experience rewarding. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC school year:). Hi,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
