My name is Amanda, a student with the University of Phoenix on-line working towards a MA in secondary education. I have a BA in the Art of English and minor in history. Currently I work as a paraprofessional in secondary education and tutor students from K-12 and adult in many subject areas.
In 2006, I published a historical romance novel and hope to continue to do that as a hobby while gaining my degree for secondary education to teach high school. I enjoy reading, writing, researching, history, and many more things including sports like baseball.

In order to tutor people in their subjects I first speak with them on their likes and dislikes of the subject. I give a pretest to find where they are struggling the most. From there I create and develop lessons that will enable the person to learn the subject in steps so that they grasp and understand what they need through the process in order to meet their goals. I use a variety of things to create my lessons including on-line sources, presentations, books, movies and videos. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
