I am presently in school studying for a graduate degree in social psychology but I have always considered myself a learner, a student and a teacher willing to pass on my knowledge and to learn from everyone around me. My interests are in music appreciation, writing, reading comprehension, reading for pleasure, and a variety of other subjects. My goal is to make learning fun, not a chore and not a burden. I want to help everyone to learn and to contribute to their society to the best of their ability. Everyone is important to this overall goal, no matter how young or old. More about me and my writing can be found on the internet in a few locations.
My relevant experience includes reading all kinds of literature, classics, fiction, and non fiction from a very young age (before the age of 6) and constantly reading from that point. I I still read constantly. My approach to learning and teaching is to break apart concepts into little smaller pieces to make it easier for students to understand and absorb. This also creates an atmosphere that is not overwhelming to students that have a difficulty understanding certain concepts.
My teaching experience may not be credentialed but I have always helped friends, siblings, relatives, and children to better understand what they are learning. I have also been a teachers assistant in a video production class as well as an internship supervisor for an internet radio web site. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
