A little about me, I am a student at Northeastern University in an Interdisciplinary major, focusing on Education at the Secondary Level of Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and History with a 3.2 GPA.
I have been tutoring students ages 5-23 in all of my subjects (math, science, history, English, college prep, professional tests) for 5 years!. Outside of Wyzant, I write inclusive educational plans/curricula, and previously co-taught 1-7th grade, and 11th and 12th grade English and Math.
I love creating new ways to learn and grow skills and confidence! I've studied (and been published on studies about) learning styles and learning differences, delays, and disorders through my degree, and I feel like all students can strongly benefit from these alternative learning techniques, which aid in organization and retention. I love to tutor with the goal to build strong study or writing skills, with the main objective of a self-sufficient student who has the tools to implement on their own.
I have personally helped many high school seniors develop and write for the ACT, SAT, and Common App, they are some of my favorite students, and I've seen gains of 100 points for the SAT and a score of 28 go to a 32-33 in the ACT with tutoring. Just this last year I helped a student apply to 17 schools, and she was accepted to ALL of them!
I personally focus on the entire ACT writing/English component, from root words to help with the vocabulary segment, to learning how to build the essay from the outline into a full well-written product in the time frame allowed, as well as the anxiety that this timed environment causes for most students.
