I received the Outstanding Senior in Mathematics Award in 2007, the Outstanding Graduate Student Award in 2013, and received a Ph. D. with Distinction for my dissertation in 2013.

I tutored in the Math Lab during the Fall 2006, Spring 2007, and Summer 2007 semesters while I was attending Augusta State University (now Augusta University). While I was working in the Math Lab I provided tutoring services to students on an as needed basis for College Algebra, Precalculus, Elementary Statistics, and Calculus courses. My tutoring approach for the students that came to the Math Lab involved working out textbook problems with them on the whiteboard, answering any questions they asked me, and walking them through any graded exams they showed me to help them understand where they went wrong on their exam problems and what they needed to do differently to improve their competence with any course material they were struggling with.

I was a teaching assistant for Statistical Theory I, Statistical Theory II, Introduction To Epidemiology, and for Design and Analysis of Observational Studies while I was attending graduate school at Medical College of Georgia (now Augusta University). While I was a teaching assistant for these courses I answered any questions they had during class lectures and I tutored students that were enrolled in these courses one on one as needed during my office hours. My tutoring approach for these students was to answer any questions they asked of me, to work out problems with them to help improve their competence with the course material, and to provide them guidance on how to solve the homework problems correctly while still placing the responsibility of solving them on the students.

I taught at Georgia Regents University (now Augusta University) in the Fall 2013

Patient and thorough

Joshua took time to explain the basics of biostatistics and look over my failed exam and homework. He was patient as we worked through each problem step by step. Three hours with Josh taught me more about biostatistics than 2 1/2 weeks in my masters class. Joshua is great about putting biostatistics into easy to understand language. Highly recommend!

Hands down the best tutor!!!

What can I say about Joshua G.? He is the best tutor I’ve ever had. Before finding him I was contemplating changing my major because I didn’t think I could get through a statistics class, let alone two classes. The very first session I had with him, I knew I could do it. I was so nervous because I learn math a little slower but he’s so patient and explains the material in a way that actually makes sense. There is no way I would have been able to get through two statistics classes without him and never thought I’d get an A+ in both classes. Joshua G. taught me more in our sessions than my professors did. He is an incredible teacher and I’m beyond grateful for him. If you’re looking for a tutor, you found him. Thank you Joshua!

Knowledgeable and Helpful

Joshua is a great biostatistics tutor. He taught me about the logic of statistical inference, sampling distribution, and significance tests. He clarifies and confirms your understanding of the biostatistics subject matter.

Highly knowledgeable and extraordinarily patient!

Joshua knows EVERYTHING about biostatistics and he is quick to restate or reframe to enhance comprehension. He is very thorough in making sure the learner understands WHY each problem is solved the correct way, not just giving the answer. I highly recommend him!

Very knowledgeable tutor

Joshua taught me the basics of R, and helped me to utilize R with different statistic problems. He was very patient, and answered all my questions throughly. At the end of class I felt as if I had a much better grasp of R, even though I started without having any prior coding/programming experience.

Joshua G. Is very patient and kind while he helps me with statistics. I would not be able to get through this class without his help.
