Hello!
I am a senior at Emory University in Atlanta, GA majoring in chemistry and minoring in environmental science. I have been familiar with chemistry since my sophomore year in high school. I took honors and AP chemistry in high school. Now, I have taken the general education classes, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, and analytical chemistry college classes, and I am involved with chemical research at Emory. I am super passionate about chemistry and would love the opportunity to help you!

Furthermore, I have experience as a teaching assistant for science classes, where I have lead discussions and office hours to help the students. In addition, I have often graded tests, so I have the point of view of those that have graded your exams. I think my most valuable trait is that not long ago I was learning these topics for the first time, so I understand what is like in your shoes. I can approach problems the way students will and can explain concepts in simpler terms. I know I can help you succeed in your chemistry course!

To reiterate, I am a chemistry major. I have a 4.0 in my major classes. I have taken two semesters of general chemistry, which covers: stoichiometry, thermodynamics, acid-base reactions, Red-Ox reactions, solubility, and the basics of physical chemistry. I have, also, taken three semesters of organic chemistry, which covers: IUPAC nomenclature, lewis structures, functional groups, and common organic reactions, hyperconjugation, and orbitals. I have also completed courses for quantum mechanics and multiple lab courses, so I can help with lab reports. In addition, in high school, I took honors and AP chemistry.

I am really flexible when it comes to scheduling. I know that together we can improve your understanding, confidence, and test-taking strategies.

Lastly, a parting chemistry joke. Why can't you trust atoms? Because they make up everything!

great teacher

Kathryn was great - She was able to clearly communicate the material to my son and allow him to feel more confident.

Really helpful and friendly!!

She did a really good job of explaining the concepts and even when I didn’t get it the first time she would go back and teach it again. She made sure to ask me if I grasped everything well and was also really east to talk to. She managed to explain chem concepts in clear methods that my professor couldn’t do either. I definitely recommend her!

Knowledgeable and relatable tutor

Kathryn went over quantum mechanics, wavelength and energy equations, and even going as simple as Stoichiometry equations. She went over any and every topic that I found myself struggling with and just overall helped me feel more confident for my midterm that was coming up. Highly recommend for people who need assistance in general chemistry courses especially for college or ap levels
