About Joseph

Bio

After graduating with a BA in English from the University of Dallas and a Master of Arts from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, I went on to teach classes of 6-11th grade students at Trivium Preparatory Academy for 3 years in English, Writing, and Math. I also tutored students individually for all sections of the SAT and ACT during my time there, and I have continued to do so for the past year.

I love teaching English and Literature because I have a passion for storytelling, and...

After graduating with a BA in English from the University of Dallas and a Master of Arts from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, I went on to teach classes of 6-11th grade students at Trivium Preparatory Academy for 3 years in English, Writing, and Math. I also tutored students individually for all sections of the SAT and ACT during my time there, and I have continued to do so for the past year.

I love teaching English and Literature because I have a passion for storytelling, and I enjoy teaching Math and Grammar because of their rational nature and the enjoyment that comes from solving logic puzzles.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy going to the movies, spending time with my five younger brothers and sisters, and volunteering within MENSA. I believe that learning can always be made fun and is extremely rewarding when you put in the work. I look forward to sharing my love of all these subjects with you as a future student, and I look forward to meeting you!

Highly recommend: Effective and experienced SAT tutor

Joseph is terrific with my daughter in studying for her SATs. She is interested in super scoring and raising her score about 100 points and Joesph took the time to learn about her goals, give advice on her long term goals and then hunkered down to work with her twice a week. Since they are concentrating on her Eng scores, her diagnostics have gone up by 60 points in just a couple of weeks and she has a month more to keep working with Joseph. We worked with Joseph before in the spring, and at that time she was testing about 100 points higher, meeting her goal, but then her SAT testing closed due to Covid. Joseph really prepped her. He’s always punctual and explains answers that she got wrong patiently and effectively. My daughter really likes his style of teaching and feels that she really understands once he explains and let’s her try again. Joseph also gives very good advice beyond the content, on studying techniques and test taking techniques which is very helpful. Once my second daughter begins college test prep, we will absolutely call on Joseph again. Would highly recommend.

I've had 11 meetings with Joseph and he helped me work on my weaknesses a lot. I went from a 1300 PSAT in 11th grade to a 1420 SAT just a few months later with his help. He is very experienced when it comes to tutoring and it showed when he was able to pinpoint what I needed help with most in the reading comprehension section. I would definitely recommend working with him if you want to try to hone in on your weaknesses!
