About Rebecca

I have always had a passion for education, but it was not until the later years of high school that I realized this. I had always wanted to learn as much as I could from my classes, but I hadn't yet come to understand how I could use that to help others. In my AP Physics class, I found that many of my peers could go so much further if they heard the material in another way. This was an unexpected blessing, and I loved being able to see noticeable differences in others' grades after a short amount of time spent investing in their understanding together. I fell in love with helping other people in their courses.

When I first started tutoring, I taught a young man on the autism spectrum who struggled with ADHD. When we began, he had low D's, and he had a hard time proving on a test what he knew. Over the first semester we worked together, he raised his grades to B's. We focused on learning studying strategies that worked best for him as well as mechanisms to keep him focused on the task at hand when he sat down to do homework. At the end of our second semester together, he finished with A's and B's, and I couldn't have been more proud of him! This awakened my passion for tutoring and teaching. In high school, I tutored in physics and math, as well as proofreading and grammar. It's my desire to make sure that people seeking help are able not only to find that support but to also find support that suits them personally.
I hope to be able to assist you in everything that you need personally, whether that is test prep, study skills, or academic content.

Between babysitting and tutoring, I have worked with people of ages from 6 weeks to my age. I am currently attending Georgia State University as one of their Presidential Scholars, which proves my dedication to education and service. I work at a law firm as an administrative clerk and at the COMIC lab as a University Research Assistant. I find myself drawing on these experiences more than I expected; I am able to better apply classes to the real world, and I have more examples of practical applications than I did before. Whether you are struggling with the theory or the application, I think I can help!!

I took accelerated math courses through high school as well a course at Georgia Tech. These classes ranged from algebra through differential equations.

I took AP Physics B (now Physics 1 and Physics 2) as well as Physics C: Mechanics with scores of 4 and 5 respectively.

I have taken honors French for four years now, and though not fluent, I do understand the language and concepts.

I would love to meet with you and address your particular academic needs!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I achieved a 35 on my ACT English.
