About Jonathan

I am a working professional in the field of Economic Development and write papers and presentations on the application and analysis of statistics, linear algebra, accounting, and geometry daily. In the interest of personal detail, I am also a male United States citizen, that has traveled to over a dozen sovereign nations internationally and english is my first language. I enjoy working with children and have a great sense of humor.

I am passionate about supporting and encouraging rising 3rd through 8th grade kids to comprehend and apply math fundamentals, including geometry and pre-algreba, as well as physical sciences to real world concepts. I teach from the perspective that instructors are challenged to make the subject real for each child. In my first few sessions I assess each child's learning strengths and preferred styles and work to tailor my format to those strengths. Additionally, where appropriate I incorporate technology into the childs learning experience through creative math and science applications I will provide. My passion for secondary school education is driven by my belief in the importance of learning and loving the fundamentals. I want to serve to encourage each student that Math and Science is not a distance subject and that building upon their knowledge in these areas is truly empowering.

My passions and current career are built on a full and diverse academic and extracurricular background. I have performed well on the ACT, scoring a 29, and have also sat for the GMAT, LSAT, and GRE. I majored in biology at Morehouse College during my first year, ultimately graduating with a Bachelor of Art in History. As I went on to pursue my Masters Degree I also tutored elementary biology for Atlanta Public Schools, and basic fundamentals in Cobb County to quelch my desire to remain close to the physical sciences. Some of my achievements include the McArthur Scholarship for two years, undergraduate SGA sentor, History Department Vice President, and History Department President, and selection as Graduate Research Assistant to the professor of Budgeting and Finance in the school of Public Administration. In graduate school I also studied abroad in New Castle England for Policy Analysis. In addition to collegiate activities, I was a second lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol and volunteered with at-risk kids in a low income community in Birmingham.

Last but not least, reading and writing comprehension is a huge deciding factor between types of work and the level in which you achieve in a profession. I would like to help your child gain access to the power of words. If you allow me to enable your child to become a stronger, more effective writer they will be able to communicate their ideas with clarity and style. Frankly, I know what is awaiting your child in the world and I want to provide them with a leg up!
