Auburn University (Chemistry)
I graduated from Auburn University in May 2015 with a degree in Chemistry. I loved chemistry in high school, and originally planned to attend med school. However, I became heavily involved in Dance Marathon, a fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and found the personal relations of healthcare was much more up my alley than the medical aspect. This led me move to Atlanta as the Volunteer Services Intern at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, a position I held from May 2015 through May 2016, and was then promoted to Volunteer Coordinator. Of course after 1 summer of working, I realized that as much as I love my job, I missed chemistry. And not just chemistry, but biology and math as well.
I started tutoring with Learning Linkz, LLC in September 2015, through May 2016. I moved to Druid Hills, and the commute to Vinings is pretty much impossible in Atlanta traffic, so I'm looking for tutoring opportunities closer to home. I love helping students and watching them have their "aha!" moment when the lightbulb clicks and they understand the lesson. I hope to help you have that moment, learn the material, and ultimately learn how to learn the material so you don't need a tutor anymore.
The hardest thing about math teachers is that a lot of them are so smart they don't know how to communicate in terms that a student can understand. This is where my math/science brain and my interpersonal skills make me an excellent tutor. I can read people to figure out how to explain material in a way that makes sense to them. I took AP AB and BC Calculus and scored a 5 on both exams. I got a 740 on my math SAT.
If you're looking for a tutor to do your homework for you, then keep looking. If you're looking for a tutor to help you understand the material and ace your next test, then message me. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
