Masters in Physics

Bachelors in Physics, Minor in Computer Science

Physics and abstract math don't come come naturally to many people. When I took AP Physics B, it was unlike anything I had ever seen or recognized, so I know how frustrating the coursework can be. My personal journey into academia is the foundation to my current teaching style. I help my students master the algebra or calculus required to tackle the most confounding problems in physics. My teaching style is to consistently build upon the foundation of knowledge my student already has. I look forward to meeting an animated student that I can help gain personal confidence and success in school.

I specialize in teaching physics to students from diverse academic backgrounds. In my first position, I taught introductory physics to biomedical students. I used familiar structures in the human body to explain concepts like force, electrical potential and electrical charge. Within time, the students from my small group were effectively able to tutor one another, with only some guidance from me!

I was recommended to the campus tutoring services by my adviser and worked with students struggling in algebra, computer science and math. Through this service, I also became a lab teaching assistant for several computer science classes (Python, C, Java, Matlab). I can tutor any level of physics class or math class, and most computer science classes.

To my students: My personal goal in tutoring is to inspire passion for learning and comprehension of the subjects that I have already come to love. I encourage self-directed learning and present you with the tools you need to independently pursue your education. I want to help you with your homework and studying for exams, but I also want to teach you how to go about solving new problems on your own. The ability to approach problems methodically leads to confidence, independence and the necessary critical reasoning skills to set you far ahead in your life. I always adjust my teaching style to my student because in the end, we have the same goal; let's get you on the track to academic success!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Python

Python is an incredibly global and useful language, in part due to its open-source development (it's totally free!). I learned basic computer programming in a Python-based course, so I know how it's structure reflects modern computer theory and organization. Since then, I've also created several modular Python programs for industrial space applications in past summer internships.
