Georgia Institute of Technology (Mech. Engineering)
Originally from Tucker, GA, I'm a mechanical engineer with fluency in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, kinematics, chemistry, and physics. I spent six years at the Georgia Institute of Technology getting my bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with dual minors in German and Music Technology, and a certificate in Arabic. Afterward, I spent a little over a year designing pipe expansion joints for applications in traditional and nuclear power stations, ships, chemical refineries and fluid catalytic cracking units.
I'm also fluent in German, having taken German classes for fourteen years and having spent three months in Germany during college. In my free time, I'm a performing singer-songwriter with a knack for sounding like Springsteen or Petty. I would love to become a high school teacher one day. I love to break down problems and explain them to students in a way that's relatable and simple to understand.
I have a knack for breaking down problems so they're relatively easy to understand. I try to model my teaching after some of the fantastic teachers and professors I had in high school and college. I also received a perfect 800 score on the math section of the SAT.
I took German classes for fourteen years between fourth grade and college, earning a minor along the way. I would have been able to dual-major with just a few more international affairs classes. I also attended the Georgia Governor's Honors Program (GHP) for German in 2007. Through my experience and having studied and worked for several months in Germany, I make a very good German tutor.
I look forward to getting to work with you! I love seeing students get to the moment where they're able to understand something complex after having broken down problems and concepts into simple components. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
