I have been teaching for 23 years. My experience is in both public and private schools. Besides teaching first and second grade, I have several years experience as an Instructional Technology Specialist in K - 6. Technology is just one tool that I use to help children understand the subject they are having difficulty with.
I love to read and teaching reading is my favorite thing to do, I love seeing that "AHA" look on my students' faces. I am trained in Project READ, which uses a systematic multisensory approach to decoding and ultimately leads to improvement in reading comprehension.
I also love math because there are so many different ways to approach math, especially at the lower grades. I have used many different math systems - from Box it and Bag it to Singapore Math and others in between.
Open communication between all teachers and parents is so important. I will work with you and provide you with periodic reports or assessments and ways that you, as a parent can help your child.
Generally I am available Sunday through Thursdays and very flexible about times. My base rate for grades K - 3 is $50/hr in-person. I am also willing to offer lesson packages at a discount.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping your child achieve success! I have been teaching for 23 years. My experience is in both public and private schools. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been an elementary school teacher for 23 years. I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and have successfully taught in both public and private schools. I use a variety of methods acquired over my 23 years from working with many excellent teachers and hundreds of children.
I have been a successful elementary school teacher for many years in different settings. I feel confident that I can use my skills obtained over the years to motivate and help with instruction of homeschoolers. I am homeschooling my son this year and so far he has mastered all the common core skills presented to him. We are also following Georgia State Standards.
I have been an elementary school teacher, primarily first and second grades for many years. I am trained in Project READ which uses a systematic multisensory approach to provide instruction in decoding, vocabulary enrichment and reading comprehension. I have taught hundreds of first graders how to read. Further, I have much experience helping students advance their level of reading comprehension so that after first grade, the student can begin to read to learn, rather than learn to read.
