My experience with French began in middle school and it quickly became my greatest passion. When I was in college I was able to spend a semester in France and that experience changed my life. It was amazing to use the language I had learned every day and to understand the culture through first-hand experience. As a French teacher for 21 years, I have shared my passion for and knowledge of French language and culture with hundreds of students. I have inspired many of them to pursue French or other foreign language studies in college and beyond.
Though I have chosen to slow down my work routine, I would love to continue working with students and with the language that means so much to me. I have tutored many of my students in the past and I know how to assess students' strengths and needs to make the most of our time working together.
I hold both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in French. I spent a semester studying in France during college, and I have returned to France twenty times since then, often to accompany my students. I taught French 1, 2, 3, 4 and AP in a respected independent school in the Atlanta area for 21 years and I have worked wih students in grades 8-12. I began an exchange program with a French high school that is now going into its 14th year. In France I am often mistaken for a native speaker.
I enjoy making learning French fun and uncomplicated for my students. I have lots of great tips and secrets to share. I look forward to getting started with you and helping you on your way to being a fluent French speaker! My experience with French began in middle school and it quickly became my greatest passion. My son struggled with French class. He recently received an A on a French project. What an improvement, thank you Jennifer!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
