Moore College of Art and Design (BFA FASHION DESIGN)
Who am I? What do I do? And, how can I help you? You probably have more questions than this, but let's start with the basics. Hi, I’m Stacy and I am an artist. At least I started out that way. I have training in pencil, pen and ink, watercolor, marker, pastel, and acrylics; however, my favorite medium was and still is charcoal. I have a BFA in Fashion Design with a double minor in Textiles and Photography from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, PA. Before that, I attended one of this country’s top high schools, Design and Architecture Senior High in Miami, Florida. You could say I have been in art school my entire life. But, in my professional life, my medium consists of fabrics, yarns, prints, beads, and buttons. I am a fashion industry expert; having designed apparel and accessories for Ralph Lauren, Jones of New York, Chico’s, Lane Bryant, DSW and the list goes on and on. I love what I do!
How can I help you? You tell me! If you are looking to build a portfolio for college, improve your drawing skills, dabble in different mediums until you find your soul's calling, I can help you with all of it. From assessing your skills, critiquing your artwork, and in general encouraging you to find what you love most about the arts. As a director in the industry, I have built and mentored teams - so I urge you to utilize my skills by allowing me to tutor and mentor you.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I love to draw and have a keen eye for depth. My hand sketching skills lend themselves to realism as I have been formerly trained in still life, life drawing and portraiture. Though I have training in all mediums my favorite is charcoal and for color, I love pastels and gouache watercolors. I can assist you in understanding lines, creating tension and movement in the medium of your choice as well as a knowledge of composition and aesthetic harmony; understanding dimensionality with the use of light and shadow (known as chiaroscuro).
My painting skills include; gouache, watercolor, acrylic, and oil. My favorite medium is Gouache as I love how the medium allows you to layer colors, but I have a great understanding of hand and eye coordination, pencil or brush dexterity, of how paints mix and of how their properties can be modified using additional oils, solvents, etc.
