Test Preparation:
ACT Math

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have helped students prepare for the math portion of the ACT using the Pearson ACT prep book, as well as official ACT material and practice exams. I usually start by reviewing all the basic math formulas and ACT questions, followed by a series of practice questions and full practice exam. By taking the practice exam at least twice, students can almost always boost their score. I have taken and taught several ACT courses in community colleges while living in Michigan.

Algebra 1

I earned an A in university algebra courses, and created study groups for students struggling with the subject. I also created memory techniques for students to memorize algebraic formulas. My university professors often asked me to tutor students in study programs.

Algebra 2

I have always enjoyed algebra 2 throughout my career. I have tutored many students in this subject and they have excelled and improved in their class. All students that I have tutored have advanced in their Algebra 2 class and began to enjoy the material.

Calculus

I earned an A in calculus 1 and calculus 2 courses. I also participated in a tutoring program for students who struggled with the subject. I helped students improve their grades on exams, and in the class overall.

Geometry

I tested out of the university equivalent geometry course. I participated in a tutoring program for students who struggled with the subject. I helped students improve their grades on exams, and in the class overall.

Prealgebra

I tested out of pre-algebra before my college years began. The tools in this class are used in many other classes therefore it's always being utilized. I enjoy teaching this subject and helping students earn better grades.
