About Edmund

Future students,

I am thrilled to be your potential tutor in the areas of English, grammar, and writing! You have already taken the biggest step in seeking help for the area in the subject you're struggling. However, with me, we can turn your current struggling and confusion into excellence and confidence. Just so that you know a little more about me, I am a graduate of Oglethorpe University with a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology.

Though a science major at the institution, one of my strongest areas of expertise was writing and grammar. Even further, as a liberal arts institution, I was afforded the ability to master my writing beyond the sciences. Through a unique core curriculum offered by the university, I can adequately adapt my writing in a way that is proficient and comprehensible to those who study in differing fields. For instance, I was offered and accepted the opportunity to have one of my essays published in Volume 4 of the "Penn State Undergraduate Journal of Service Learning and Community Based Research," prior to my graduation. The essay primarily focused on how, through community service, I could better understand cancer as an area study and on a greater social context.

In addition to my collegiate experience, for several years I have assisted elementary, middle, and high school students in English homework, essay/paper writing, and scholarship applications. The same students have consistently returned for more assistance, and, in due time, showed tremendous growth. My tutoring tactics vary depending on grade level, but regardless of where a student is in grade school, I do my best to explain each challenge a student may face in a way that is relevant to them. I am not afraid to step away from the traditional white board and explain the subject matter by a means of providing crafts, mnemonic devices, catchy songs, memory games, or even ideas the student may have in mind. The goal, after all, is retention and mastery of English mechanics and writing.

My ultimate goal as a tutor is to build a positive relationship with the students to where they can approach the subject matter confidently, accurately, and decisively. I personally used to deplore English as a subject. It was not until someone put their faith in me and allowed me to approach the subject from a fun and interactive manner that I found a love for it. Because I have known the difficulty of understanding a subject and have witnessed the outstanding effects tutoring can I have on an individual, tutoring has become a very intricate part of my life. Regardless of age, I enjoy doing what I do because I am making a difference in someone's life and paving the way for them to achieve all they would want more easily. Positivity, patience, and interactive approaches are ultimately the key for any student success. I can almost guarantee that by the end of the first meeting, the student will have much more confidence in themselves. I ultimately love to see growth that would eventually blossom into excellence.

At the moment, I should be available 2-3 times per week to meet directly with students upon request. However, if students need to reach me for quick questions, they can contact me directly via my WyzAnt email. If these emails are not sent too late, responses should granted not later than 5-6 hours after submission. I check my email a few times per day.

Now that you have gotten to learn a little more about me, let's get started!!!

All the best,
Edmund
