I love to teach because I love to learn! I've tutored elementary and junior high students for more than six years. My tutoring sessions have covered subjects such as Language Arts (reading comprehension, sentence structures, grammar, writing, etc.), Math, Spelling and Science. I also provided GED tutoring to homeless mothers for approximately two years, most of which involved Math, Reading Comprehension and History. I'm proud to say that all of my students experienced a significant rise in their test scores and grades, and, perhaps more importantly, now possess a stronger sense of self-confidence - their self-esteem soars when the 'light bulb' comes on!
I do not have a formal teaching certificate, but I am a college graduate (BA) with more than 12 years of experience working for some of the country's top law firms. My tutoring services focus on elementary school and junior high Reading/Language Arts. My goals as a tutor are to: raise the student's level of confidence in his/her abilities; understand the root cause(s) of the student's learning challenge(s); and to transition the process of learning from frustrating to fun. I believe that developing a child’s curiosity to learn is very important in his/her long-term success.
I live in downtown Atlanta and my schedule is fairly flexible. I would prefer to meet at a mutually convenient place (e.g., library, quiet coffee shop, etc.), but am open to options. My cancellation notification timeframe (to prevent being charged for a scheduled session) is 24 hours.
I look forward to hearing from you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
