I am a teacher working at an Elementary school located in Mableton, Georgia. I am fun, exciting and love teaching students. My area of concentration deals with students with learning disabilities, emotionally disturbed and autism although I am certified in both general education and special education. I believe in creating an environment that is structured yet fun and conducive to learning. My motto is simple as it pertains to teaching. It says that everyone can learn anything when you make it fun, exciting and understandable.
I strongly love differentiating instruction to meet the academic needs of my students. I believe in starting where they are academically and moving forward from that point. In the past I have worked with students who didn't know how to read. After constant reinforcing, learning through singing and recalling prior knowledge most of them have grown from not reading at all to reading two and three grade levels above their current grade. When asked how do I get these results I will tell anyone that I enjoy what I do. My reward comes from watching children read and empowering them to be independent readers, thinkers and writers.
I love teaching all areas that incorporate reading. From phonics to sentence structuring to even learning how to write effective, meaningful paragraphs. I enjoy it all and it excites me to see students learn in an areas that was considered an academic deficit.
I love working with children. I feel that in order to be effective in the area of teaching children one must truly be interested in doing it. It has to be a passion that one must have. An individual should be able to have patience, willing to listen and able to go above and beyond to ensure that learning is being done.
I love to see students identify key rules to learning reading. One of the most important components to this is enabling a student to understand how phonics is important to reading and writing. I love to see how students use word attack skills to read new words or sentences. More importantly, I love the joy they feel when they know that they have mastered these skills.
So I you are looking for someone that is fun, exciting and love what he does then give me a try and watch us soar to greater heights together. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
