Towson University (German)
Carl von Ossietzky Universitaet (Master's)
Welcome all German-lovers! I have been passionate about the German language since my first day of German class as a freshman in high school. I still remember it as if it were yesterday and since that day, I have been pursuing my passion. I studied abroad in Germany and returned after earning my BA to complete a Master of Arts in German Studies at a German university. My goal was to learn to speak German like a native (meaning no accent!) and after many years of hard work, I achieved that goal.
While abroad, I taught English and German, both at Inlingua and later for an engineering company and privately in my home. I have experience tailoring courses to different levels as well as business needs. Over the years, I have taught classes for adults in administration as well as engineering; I have also tutored kids of different ages and levels as well. The German language has been a part of my life for 17 years and counting. I look forward to sharing my passion with you!
I look forward to sharing my passion for the German language with you! Since I am American and learned German in school and abroad, I know what it takes to teach English speakers the ins and outs of the language. Welcome all German-lovers! Kerry taught the boys their first German lesson and it was great. We look forward to future lessons as they continue to learn the German language
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I began learning German at the age of 14 when I entered high school. I immediately fell in love with the language and continued learning German though high school and college. I majored in German at Towson University and studied abroad for a year at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität in Oldenburg, Germany. After completing my BA, I returned to that university in Germany and earned an MA in German Studies. I wrote my thesis in German, which focused on comparing the integration process in Germany and the US and earned a 1.3 (equivalent to an A in the US). After living in Germany and immersing myself into the German culture for five years, I moved back to the States in 2009. Since then I have worked with German in varying capacities, such as tutor and translator. I enjoy sharing my passion with others and feel rewarded when I can pass on my language skills to others.
