About Caitlin

I am a certified teacher with a Master's Degree in Exception Student Education. I began my career as an ESE teacher with tutoring clients and later built and oversaw the mentoring program of a post-secondary program emphasizing career readiness and independent living skills.

Learning should be fun, but when resistant behaviors arise, they often indicate a lack of motivation from not fully grasping new concepts. I will customize lessons for your son/ daughter that are engaging, hands on, and far beyond pen and paper. This will help them re-build their self confidence. I will also tailor a learning plan for them with objectives and goals that gradually fade supports over time, helping them regain their independence.

Reading: For early readers I enjoy using Fundations for phonics. I have a plethora of tools and strategies to share with my clients to mastering reading comprehension.

Writing: Lucy Calkins is the guru to teaching children how to learn to write. I am fortunate to have received training and will use Writer's Workshop as one of my primary resources.

I am young and have a lot of energy. Clients enjoy my silly mnemonic devices!

My Master's Degree in ESE has given me an in depth understanding on how students with learning disabilities learn. I have the skills to address learning challenges and how to overcome them.

Evening and weekend appointments are available. Please contact me to schedule a lesson today!

I look forward to meeting you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I obtained a Teacher's Certification K-6 and taught for two years in elementary school. I maintained a caseload of 15 tutoring clients. I have general knowledge in all areas K-6 and specialize in reading, writing, and math.

Special Needs

I have a Master's Degree in Special Education. I have taught/tutored students with a wide range of learning disabilities. I have been trained to identify learning challenges and how to overcome them. My Master's Degree in ESE has given me an in depth understanding on how students with learning disabilities learn.

Study Skills

I have a Teacher's Certification. Studying can be a daunting task-- especially for many students who have never learned, how to "learn." Give me an opportunity to mentor them on just that.

Organization is key to staying abreast academically. I will work with clients to design systems that are tailored to fit their needs and wants which will transcend into every day life. Visual schedules, color coding, and student planners are just a few examples of how I can guide your son/daughter to a more organized life!
