Konrad-Duden Gymnasium (Germany) (German, English)
Hello, Hallo, Privyet, Shalom!
Welcome to my Wyzant Profile! I teach Common Core curriculum subjects such as math, science, social science, and reading for elementary-middle school aged students. I also share a passion to teach language arts and foreign languages. I love developing and adapting learning styles and curriculum in a way that my specific client may learn. Personal and interactive learning is the key to success and I can't wait to help you meet your full potential!
My students are typically elementary aged students, but I tutor other young peer groups from middle school to high school.
For English (all communicative forms), I teach speech, essay writing, editing, and literary analysis. I am proficient to teach German and Spanish at a middle school level, and alphabetical Hebrew.
Core Curriculum: In my tutoring lessons, not only do we learn about the curriculum, but also our learning styles. I explore different learning styles: kinesthetic, interactive, visual, listening, and other forms of learning. I understand that not everyone is the same, and that sometimes all we need is a little push in the right direction to get us on the right foot. My tutoring sessions are fun, challenging, and thought-provoking.
Language: My tutoring approach primarily revolves around instructing the lesson in the foreign langauge. By this approach, the student forced to hear and respond in the foreign language, therefore learning it more efficiently. I help correct my studen't accent pronunciation and grammar in the process. I gradually move my students along from basic phrases to an introduction of poetry and other literary sources. For my grade school students,I help develop the student's understanding of literature by often referring to literary analysis and figurative language. This impacts the student by opening the student to a more literary perspective, and improving their writing skills to a more mature level.
Experience and Credibility....
With 8 years of experience in language acquisition and communication, I embody the role of a Language and Communication Specialist because of my extensive work in academic programs and government organizations. From middle school until high school I took four years of Spanish and advanced Spanish. I also taught an adult group Hebrew for some time before tutoring my classmates in their language studies. Within the last year, I was fortunate to receive a full scholarship from the U.S. Department of State and German government to further develop and sharpen my linguistic skills through a formal ambassadorship. I was enrolled into an exclusive intensive German language school, and continued learning German through my academic studies at a German Gymnasium (Abitur Class). One of my most memorable experiences on this year-long adventure was finally visiting the Chancellor German Government officials at the Bundestag (Germany parliamentary building) in Berlin. In Germany, I worked on intercultural relations, traveling throughout the country, meeting ambassador officials at the American Embassy in Berlin, and giving English lessons to German students. My German lecturer provided me with a certificate of German Honors of exemplary achievement. In addition to German, I also speak other languages including Spanish, Hebrew, and some Russian.
I am a native speaker of English and love teaching all kinds of English communication including Speech, Essays, Proofreading, and resume/ cover letter editing. Additionally, I also teach elementary students Theater and Speech Communications.
I have previously tutored a six-year old elementary student in reading. She dramatically improved her reading comprehension within a few weeks. I have also interned at a children's innovative science museum. Here, I assisted in fun and creative classroom activities in the areas of science, math, and technology.
During my two years as head chairman on the Mayor's Youth Council, we were able to successfully support a local organization through community outreach, resulting in a newly-built playground for disabled children. I have also been awarded on a community- and state-level for outstanding leadership, achievement, and commitment of community service.
Having completed an internship at a children's science museum, I am familiar with relating to children's academia. I confidently teach children elementary level core subjects in a way that fun and understandable. I also teach basic lessons in Physics (such as Currents & Electricity, Wave Frequencies, Optics) and Biology to high school students.
I have toured countries abroad including Germany, Israel, The Netherlands, and Poland. I posses political and religious knowledge or regional geography. I excelled academically in Geography and other social sciences.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
