About Michael

My desire for knowledge and sharing this knowledge has been the catalyst for my involvement in teaching and tutoring. During my college career, I spent two summers in San Diego and Oakland, CA as well as Detroit, MI working as an engineering mentor for the National Society of Black Engineers for their SEEK (Summer Engineering Experience for Kids) program. I taught a classroom of about thirty 5th graders about STEM related subjects using STEM related projects like the Solar powered toy car. This helps these inner city kids get exposure to STEM early on and let them know it's possible for them to pursue careers in this field.

I am graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, obtaining an Electrical Engineering Degree with a concentration in Power Systems and Power Electronic in June 2014. I am currently a Master's candidate at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology for their Industrial/Engineering Management program. I am certified as an Engineer-in-Training under The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and I currently use my math, science, and engineering skills as a Power Systems Engineer at Eaton Corporation.

I specialize in tutoring math and science targeting success in school ranging first grade up to the twelfth grade. I volunteered as a Tutor at my former high school in Fontana, CA every summer for the last 5 years before moving to Maryland. Tutoring Algebra 1 and 2, Trigonometry, Chemistry, and Physics. I'll definitely be keeping the student challenged but not going overboard with it. There will homework exercises for practice after every lesson and I will be providing feedback and progress report.

While I do have 24-hour cancellation policy, I will be offering make up sessions.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

Completed a rigorous math and calculus class series in College and I've tutored Algebra since I was in the 10th grade at Henry J Kaiser Hight school in Fontana, CA
