Emory University (Art History)
Being that I have taken many language courses myself, I have a solid understanding of what is necessary to tutor others in English. In High School I studied Spanish for 2 years, then delved into German in college for 2 years as well, spending a summer abroad in Vienna, Austria. While at Emory I was also a staff writer for the school's newspaper which allowed me to improve creative writing skills. I graduated from Emory University with a BA in Liberal Arts.
Post-graduation I studied French in Atlanta for 3 years at the Alliance Francaise d'Atlanta and gained proficiency in French. Professionally, I was a Production Manager at an Atlanta-based Japanese television production company for 4 years so my interests turned to Asia. Recently I began learning Mandarin and Korean as I have a personal love for Asian cultures and desire to be conversational in these languages. In addition I currently work part-time with a global Korean company so have been enjoying learning more about Korea through my new colleagues.
I tutored a French student in English for months after college. In addition I have also tutored my children in French. I have excellent English grammar and pronunciation skills. My writing experience as a staff writer at the university newspaper and having studied multiple foreign languages gives me a well-rounded perspective on language learners' needs.
My schedule is flexible so let me know what works best for you. I am also available for FaceTime or phone lessons. If you need to cancel an appointment I request that you give 24-hour notice and we will make up the lesson if you choose.
Please contact me and we will get started! I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your English speaking goals! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been working with foreign students to increase their English reading and pronunciation skills. My passion is language and I am thrilled to help others build confidence and gain as much perfection with English as they wish.
I have a background in writing as well in case that service is also needed.
I took French lessons at the Alliance Francaise d'Atlanta for 3 years. My conversational French skills and pronunciation are solid as I am also married to a French citizen and converse often with his family. Also, while at the Alliance, I tutored a beginning student for about 6 months, helping her to increase her speaking proficiency. I am comfortable tutoring beginners or those who wish to work on pronunciation.
