About Michael

I am a graduate student working towards my PhD in physics. Naturally, I have taught intro physics multiple times at levels ranging from the most introductory algebra based mechanics to courses in electrodynamics designed for first year physics majors. As an undergrad I was a learning assistant in several classrooms where I learned how to engage students in a positive manner that they would be receptive to.

I have been tutoring one on one for 6 years now (2 on this website) and normally get very positive feedback from students. Results will vary but in general my students, given time, end up passing their classes with room to spare.

I am willing to work with harder material than just high school physics, do not hesitate to contact me if you are in college taking intro physics. If you are taking a higher level physics course also do not hesitate to contact me.

I hold a B.A. in physics from Boston University (2012) with a 3.5 GPA.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

Currently seeking a PhD in physics. Algebra is second nature to me. I commonly have to teach some algebra along side the physics involved in the introductory courses.

Calculus

physics PhD candidate, taught into physics for 3 years

Differential Equations

I passed Differential Equations in College with an A-. I also have used differential equations in various physics problems throughout my career. For instance many harmonic oscillator problems use differential equations, as well as quantum mechanics.

Physics

I am currently a physics graduate student.

Very responsive with good communication

Michael arrived early and was well-prepared. He is helping my daughter with HS physics and Advanced Algebra over the summer to get a jump start on the fall. He was provided the summer learning packet and worked quickly through the first set of problems. My daughter seemed comfortable with the material covered and ready to complete the additional problems that he assigned.
