I am a graduate student at Georgia Institute of Technology pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics with a minor in Electrical Engineering. I have both formally and informally tutored since high school and I was a graduate teaching assistant in physics for the 2013-2014 school year. I am a graduate student at Georgia Institute of Technology pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics with a minor in Electrical Engineering. I have both formally and informally tutored since high school and I was a graduate teaching assistant in physics for the 2013-2014 school year. Before my first full teaching assignment I participated in a workshop on modern teaching theory and techniques. While a TA, in addition to my duties of regular tutoring session hours and lab hours, I would also hold review sessions for the students before their finals to answer any question and go over problems which I have seen be problematic in the past for other students.

Personally, I get satisfaction out of seeing students learn and succeed. One of the best reviews I have received from a student was "Actually made physics enjoyable". When hired as a tutor, my goal is to help you to better understand the material, to better think about the material so that new material will come easier, eventually making my services unnecessary.

I have formally taken mathematics all the way up to Partial Differential Equations and Complex Analysis. In addition I use calculus on a daily basis. My daily exposure and experience has made me skilled in this subject. In addition I have further experience in competitive mathematics with participation in Mu Alpha Theta maths competitions in high school and the Putnam competition in college. I have experience tutoring up to multivariable calculus and have previously tutored Calculus 1 and 2 (depending on where you go) professionally.

Physics is the subject where I have the most experience and I am the most passionate. My academic qualifications extend through the core graduate coursework in physics and I solve problems on a daily basis. In addition, have taught physics classes and tutored professionally in the past. My workshop on teaching techniques was specialized for physics so my skills are highly honed for this subject.

Every student has their own individual needs and desires. Certain teaching techniques will not work of all students. Every student under my tutelage will have their own dossier where I will constantly track and update the student's progress to identify weaknesses which will need to be addressed and strategies that do and don't work. If given the appropriate information, I will review the specific materials used by the student before our allocated time so that I can be prepared for anything that might come up.

My current research has me doing a lot of mechanical engineering and design for the structure of our experimental apparatus and heat transfer from the high power components. I have significant experience designing components in various CAD softwares such as Autodesk Inventor, Catia, and Solid Works, and fabricating them using machine shop tools and 3d printers. My simultaneous theoretical classroom experience and practical design and manufacturing experience gives me a unique perspective on problems. My tutoring methods are based on modern active / inquiry based learning techniques where the tutor / mentor primarily leads the student to discover the answer, rather than directly show them how to get there.

"Godsend"

Byron is a very intelligent,caring,honest, and driven young man. He does not just go about the tutoring as if it were just a job for him.
