About Lisa

I have an undergraduate degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Counseling which has allowed me to see the needs that children have on an educational and social level.

While I enjoy tutoring, my true love is "Coaching" adults and/or students. I have 30 plus years of experience in private and public elementary, middle and high school education. My experience includes coaching individual or group settings for children, teens, single parents and adults in the following areas: self esteem, relationship issues, social skills, communication skills and general life challenges, and, of course, tutoring students.

I have been a resident of Atlanta since 1992. I have had numerous opportunities to advise and watch many grow. I draw from my unique experiences to encourage and provide words of wisdom. I am approachable, down to earth, non-judgmental and empathetic. Together we can explore ways to improve spiritual health and rebuild confidence.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have 14 years experience as an elementary school teacher and 14 years as a middle school and high school counselor with an undergraduate degree in El Ed and Masters in Counseling. I taught every elementary grade (1st. through 5th grades), and 6th grade. I have worked with ADH and ADHD students, and students with special needs. I headed an elementary school Student Support Team (SST) for 5 years. The SST is designed to meet the support and intervention needs of all students. We provide a firm basis for those who desire a different learning environment or need some type of intervention or advocacy for success. We support with quality service, especially when something "different" is needed or desired, and provide empowerment and communication to develop a plan to help a student achieve success.
I am a parent of a sophomore college student.

Proofreading

I have been in the education field for 30 plus years with 15 years experience as an elementary, middle and high school counselor. I also spent 14 wonderful years teaching elementary school, grades 1-6. I often tutored students before and after school. I have held group and one on one counseling sessions throughout. I love children!
