About Leslie

I have been working in elementary education since 1997 and have a specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I serve as the RTI coordinator for my school and develop all academic interventions for students.

I have a particular interest and enthusiasm for working with elementary students on early reading skills such as phonics and blending skills. I am currently involved in being trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching reading and language arts. If you student is struggling with their reading development, I am the tutor for you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Common Core

I have been an educator in elementary education since 1997. I currently serve as the RTI coordinator and assistant test coordinator for my school. I develop all RTI interventions for students (144) at my school that meet Common Core and research based interventions.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been an educator in elementary education since 1997 and have served as the RTI coordinator for grades K through 6 where I am responsible for developing all RTI interventions for students in these grades. I must develop common core related interventions that are research based. I am also the assistant test coordinator for the school. Further I am the academic coordinator for the 21st Century Academic After School Program at my school.

Phonics

Developing the skills of phonemic awareness, phonics, and blending are the building blocks for reading and writing. I have been and academic interventionist, working with those students who struggle with these skills for 17+ years.

Reading

Reading fluency and comprehension are skills that bleed into all subject areas and are necessary throughout a student's academic career. Working as an academic interventionist has allowed me to assist students in making the necessary progress in these areas to succeed.
