About Sam

As a former NCAA D-2 & D-3 student athlete, I understand the game of basketball inside and out. I also know what it takes to turn a childhood dream to play college basketball into a REALITY. I am highly relational and desire to build a relationship with each player that I coach. The game of basketball has taught me so many inspirational life lessons that have transformed my character and I consider it a privilege to pass these on to the next generation of hoop stars!

I have coached in clinics, sports camps, 1-on-1 settings and at the 8th grade level twice.

I'm looking for teachable youth who want to improve in their fundamentals, are passionate about the game of basketball, and self-motivated to improve. I design my coaching style and program to uniquely fit each player regardless of position, personality, physical ability, etc. Additionally, I expect my students of the Game to value character and life lessons along with sound, rigorous basketball training. This job is not work to me. It's what I LOVE to do. I would consider it a privilege to work with you or your child!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Basketball

I grew up playing AAU basketball competitively and I developed my own game through 1-on-1 personal training with a professional coach. In high school I lettered as a Varsity player for three years, and was named Team MVP and First Team All-Area in my senior season. I played one year at NCAA D-2 University of North GA and 3 years at NCAA D-3 Covenant College. Along the way I have coached in clinics, sports camps, one-on-one settings and at the 8th grade level twice.

Volleyball

I learned the game of volleyball at a young age, watching my older sister play Club in high school and all throughout college. She taught me the fundamentals and coaching strategies that I have implemented during my competitive play at local parks, recreational leagues, intramurals and most recently at semipro tournaments all over the Southeast. I currently compete regularly in Angry Dragon volleyball tournaments (based out of Atlanta) regularly. I teach the game at clinics and the YMCA, and I have assisted in coaching at the Club level.
