My approach to learning starts with individual assessment, which structures sessions based on the particular needs of the student. Learning is enhanced by an environment of positive reinforcement, reduced anxiety and appeal to personal motivation. Based on these premises, I use creative interactive learning teamed with established instructional techniques, proven resources and a diversity of written, visual, audio and Internet based learning tools. All fundamental areas of language learning are integrated into sessions: reading comprehension, pronunciation, writing, speaking. Language acquisition and refinement are supported by realistic practical applications, simulations and role playing.
ESL and Business English educator, tutor and adult training / development consultant: My wife and I currently live in the Morningside neighborhood of Atlanta, a central location close to many schools and universities. My educational experience includes teaching at Marist High School and over twenty years experience in corporate training and consultation with AON Ltd., GlaxoSmithkline Plc., and Leica Geosystems AG. I have a BA in Education from The Catholic University of America, the M.Ed. from Georgia State University and the TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate from Clayton State University.
Retiring from full time work in 2009, I have taught ESL and Business English part time with the Interactive College of Technology, ESL Instruction and Consultation School and the Latin American Association. Additionally, I have tutored small groups, families and individuals in ESL for over five years.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have conducted career development assessment and career planning for adults and high school students as a high school counselor and a training specialist with SmithKline. I have a Masters in Education which includes achieving proficiency in vocational assessment and career planning.
I have over twenty years experience as a Public Speaking and Presentation Skills teacher and tutor. As a corporate trainer and as a manager of training and development I have conducted presentation skills and public speaking classes as well as one on one tutoring. Additionally, I have taught public speaking to ESL students at the ESL Instruction and Consultation school.
