DeVry University - Keller Graduate School of Management (MBA)
Hi everybody! I graduated from DeVry University in July 2013 with my Bachelor's in Business Administration, and went straight on to Keller Graduate School of management where I am working towards my MBA with a concentration in Human Resources. I work part - time at 2 jobs, and I am doing an informal internship. I found writing and organization to be my greatest strength in my coursework and I have had A's on every project or paper I handed in, both in Undergrad and so far in Grad school. I do have an approach to learning that is based on considering the big picture, as every project has a beginning and an end goal as well as a critical path to get to the end.
While at DeVry, I studied under a General Plan, meaning I took my own personalized mix of Management Classes, Business Intelligence and Analysis, Data Analysis, Project Management (3 classes), Human Resource Management (2 classes). I found the common thread was to draw on what you know, identify what you need to learn, and be prepared to work harder in classes that are more challenge for the student. I tutor for APA formatting, Writing skills, Project Organization (PEMBOK), Project Management (Microsoft Project), Risk Mgmt (ATOM Methodology), Contracts and Procurement, and remedial study skills for reading and writing. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I feel confident that I can work with students to improve study skills, by providing support to learn time management, project timelines and organization. Also, working to create methods for note taking off of lectures or from texts, providing for review and test prep. I can suggest various research methods for any level, up though Undergrad, as well as instruction in APA format, scholarly works, and professional writing. Finally, I can review good practices for editing and proofreading written works.
