I have just retired after 36 years of teaching grades 1-8 and high school Spanish. I miss interacting with students and still I have much to offer. My first years of teaching were in the elementary classroom. When I pursued my Master's degree, I specialized in the teaching of reading to better serve my young students. Along the way, at every opportunity, I practiced the Spanish I had begun learning in Spain as an exchange student. Because of my love of other cultures born of my time in Spain, I became certified to teach ESOL. As an ESOL teacher in Texas I took 12 courses in Spanish at UT Tyler to better serve my students and improved my fluency by spending summers in Mexico. I became certified to teach Spanish and passed the Texas bilingual certification. I taught Spanish as well as ESOL in Palestine, Texas. I taught Spanish for four years at Central High in Carrollton, Georgia.
I love teaching any age. I just finished teaching a semester teaching first grade and I have taught English and Spanish to adults as a volunteer. I am anxious to continue helping students,

Brenda really stepped in and save the day with my son's high school Spanish 2 class. It's obvious Brenda loves teaching and really cares about her students. She's incredibly patient and kind. I wish we had reached out to her sooner.
Brenda taught my 4 year old letter recognition and general literacy concepts. She was kind, patient and attentive. My child seemed to like her very much.
I had an excellent time with Brenda. After spending two hours with her I already feel that my English is starting to improve. I look forward to working with her for the rest of the summer and the fall.
Brenda teaches me Reading and writing skills to do well on my test. She is very patient helpful and she will go out her way to help you.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am certified in GA to teach K-6th classes and K-12 in reading. I have 27 years experience teaching in the elementary grades in Alaska, North Carolina, Georgia and Texas in both public and private schools. I have had excellent opportunities to train in and practice different methods. I love young children and they love me. I have three grandchildren ages 3, 6, and 11 that keep me excited about life.
I have taken the required courses for the state of Georgia and passed the test to be endorsed and have 20+ years experience teaching English to students of all ages and nationalities.
Having taught all of the elementary grades I am more than qualified to teach handwriting as it is covered every year. In the lower grades I taught manuscript and from third grade on I taught cursive. I have used every method over the course of my teaching career.
I have a Master's Degree in Education, with a specialty in the teaching of Reading. I have seven years of experience teaching fourth grade, one year teaching fifth grade, and three years teaching sixth grade, plus twelve years teaching ESL classes in middle grades. In all of these years, I was required to prepare my students for standardized tests and they always improved their scores over the previous year. I am well prepared to help students excel on standardized tests.
