I am currently a junior in college with a 3.62 GPA and am currently on the Dean's list. Getting to that point with my schooling took lots of time and effort, it did not happen overnight. I too struggle with my academia every once and awhile, even a tutor is not perfect but I do make sure to seek help with whatever I am struggling with. The key to succeeding is to never be afraid to admit that you do not know something. Teaching is a passion of mine because I love seeing the look on a person's face once they understand what I helped them with, I call it the "light bulb effect!" I would say that my teaching method is pretty student centered; the first thing that I do is talk to my student and get to know what they feel their needs are. From there I try and figure out what they enjoy so that I can incorporate that into the lessons to make it more interactive and fun. My main goal is for my students to walk away learning something entirely new each session. I have been an online tutor for the subjects of math, English and Spanish since August of this year. My students have ranged from Kindergarten to adults in college who need assistance with ESL.
I have become a certified ESL teacher after completing a 120 hour online course with TESOL. I currently am an online tutor in the subjects of Math, English, and Spanish. My students range from second grade to 12th grade. I assist with things like reading comprehension, vocabulary and college application essays. My current teaching method involves making my session very interactive, getting as much feedback and involvement from my students as possible. This includes things like having them create stories for me using their vocabulary/spelling words or choosing the topics that we cover. I also try to give small break for long lessons or some that are very strenuous. During the breaks, we would play short games such as tic tac toe or hangman. These small breaks give the student a chance to rest their brain a little and tackle their work with a new perspective. Hello all,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been tutoring with a tutoring program since August. I have had students in grades 2-12, and briefly kindergarten. I have taught my younger students about the dolch pre-primer list and expanding their vocabulary when writing. I have also helped in studying for spelling tests, in which of my students would receive high A's. I also work a lot with reading comprehension and having my students read aloud to me so that I can listen out for any errors along with give them kudos for being to pronounce any words that would normally be viewed as difficult.
I have been a certified TOEFL/TESOL instructor for over a year and have been tutoring for over two years.
I have been a tutor with the School Tutoring program since August of this year with multiple weekly sessions with the same students. During my Instructor Evaluation, it was noted that I was always on time for my sessions and very supportive and encouraging throughout the hour long sessions. My sessions usually consist of the student reading a selected reading comprehension passage aloud so that I could take note of any difficulties that would need my attention. I also review the Dolch Pre-Primer words that help teach the basic words in the English language.
