I graduated in 2012 with a major in Spanish and minor in Linguistics. I started learning Spanish in high school and became fascinated with the language and culture of Spanish speaking countries. At my university, I spent a quarter as a tutor where I was able to help others that were learning Spanish as well. I love to study the language and believe that there is always something new to be learned. As a result of my passion, I decided to spend six months in Ecuador where I was able to practice what I had learned in the classroom with native speakers. I am eager to help those wanting to better their Spanish skills. I strongly believe that speaking another language is an invaluable skill that connects you to the world. I would love to help you in your process of acquiring the skills needed to engage with the Spanish speaking community.

Our daughter needed some help with Spanish 2 so I looked online and found Wyzant. After looking up tutors in our area, I came across Emily's profile and I'm so glad we found her!! We love her attitude and she tries really hard to accommodate our hectic schedule, which can sometimes be last minute. My daughter (who's 14), seems very comfortable with her and hearing them talk, Emily knows how to talk to her so she can understand the work they are doing. If you are looking for a great tutor, Emily would be a wonderful choice.
Used her to study for a Finals Review for Spanish 2 in college. Very knowledgeable and patient. Very pleased. Doesn't pretend to know everything, she insures she's teaching correct information. Very pleasant experience.
Emily is an awesome tutor. She tutored my 15 year old son in Spanish and was very patient and helpful. She adapted to his learning style and always listened to our concerns and ideas. We saw huge improvements in his confidence and understanding. Emily is also very flexible and understanding!
Emily has been very patient with my little girl ever since she started tutoring her in Spanish. It's hard to keep a little kid focused for an hour, but Emily does it quite well. She focuses on what captures my little girl's attention and puts a Spanish lesson together that she is always excited for. I could not of ask for a better Spanish teacher for my daughter than Emily! She is fantastic and makes learning Spanish for my little girl something she really enjoys!
I would highly recommend Emily as a Spanish tutor: responsible, very well prepared, easy to work with! In a short time my daughter's grade improved and she became more confident. I wish we found her sooner. Thank you, Emily!
I contacted Emily to assist my son who is a junior in college and completely overwhelmed by Spanish. At the introduction meeting we knew we contacted the perfect person! Emily was positive, laid out an instruction plan and we felt for sure she would be able to help.
My son and Emily have met four times and I'm so happy to report, he came through the front door with a smile and said he had a break through! My son is optimistic for the first time about his Spanish skills and this all due to Emily's tutoring skills.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I recently graduated from Western with a BA in Spanish.
