About Joshua

If you have failed the Series 7 or any of the other Series exams once or twice and are at risk of losing your job or firm, then I am your instructor! I have a BA in economics from the University of Chicago and an MBA with Honors from Harvard University's Graduate School of Business ("Harvard Business School"). I also tutor microeconomics, macro, and finance.

I tutor the Wall Street Series, including the Series 6, 7, 24, 63, 65, 79, and 82, and I passed all of these exams on the first sitting. I have developed strategies for over 50 students to pass.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Business

As a graduate of the #1 MBA program in the world - Harvard Business School - I have mastered most business topics. I graduated Harvard with Honors, tutored five business topics while I was there, and have tutored, lectured and taught numerous business topics, both at the graduate level and the undergraduate level. I am currently one of the top business school lecturers at my university, rated 4.8 out of a 5.0 by students.

Career Development

I served in the Admissions office of a graduate school of business and now advise students on how to successfully apply to top graduate schools of business (Harvard, Chicago (Booth), Duke (Fuqua), Columbia, Harvard, etc.

I have mentored over 30 students into top schools (MBA programs) over the years by taking a structured planful approach to: application timing, application outlining and question/answer design, reference selection, selection of schools, presenting "problematic" performance, and coaching through the interview process.

CFA

I am qualified to teach the CFA. I am a Harvard MBA with Honors, and a University of Chicago BA in economics and math. I have completed extensive course work at a "grade A" level of proficiency in all of the areas of the CFA exam, including: portfolio managment, corporate finance, analysis of equity investments, fixed income securities, derivatives, economics, quantitative methods, and alternative investments. Furthermore, I ran a hedge fund as a managing director for several years, was a managing director at Morgan Stanley in investment banking, and am a highly rated (4.8 out of 5.0) instructor at the university level teaching in the Economics, Finance, and Quantitative Methods Department at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. I myself have also passed five (5) of the Series exams, which have similar content to the CFA and similar testing environments.

Economics

Microeconomics is the study of basic supply and demand, but also more complicated subjects such as willingness-to-pay, comparative advantage, production possibilities frontiers, dead-weight-loss, externalities, pollution rights, incidence of taxes, variable/fixed/marginal/total/average total, etc. costs, industry structures - perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, duopoly, monopoly - supply and demand under each structure, shut down versus exit, roles of brand and advertising. Some courses cover redistribution of income, international trade, more advance taxation topics

Series 63

WyzAnt has approved me to teach the Series 7. The Series 63 is a much, much simpler exam. I have passed 5 Series exams, all in the first sitting: the Series 7 (the hardest of them all), the 24, the 63, the 82, and the 79. I have already received a WyzAnt 5 star rating from the student I have been teaching the Series 7 to through Wyzant. I am a Harvard MBA with Honors, and a University of Chicago BA in Economics. I appreciate your consideration.

Series 7

I have passed the Series 7, the Series 24, the Series 63, and the Series 82 on the first attempt. I am a Harvard MBA, with a BA from the University of Chicago in Economics, who has run a hedge fund, done mergers and acquisitions work, and was a partner at Morgan Stanley in Investment Banking in New York - so I have served many of the job functions that the Series 7 prepares one for.
