About Amber

My name is Amber D. I have an undergraduate degree from Georgia State University in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Special Education. I have my Master's degree in Collaborative Special Education K-6th from The University of Alabama. I recently just graduated from The University of West Georgia with an Educatiinal Specialist degree in Special Education.

I have been teaching for 3.5 years. I currently teach in a Title 1 DeKalb County school as a Resource teacher.

I am certified in the State of Georgia in these areas:
Early childhood education (P-5)
Special education general curriculum consultative (P-12)
Special education cognitive levels: language arts, reading, math, science, and social studies (P-5 and 4-8).

I will help with homework, working with students over the summer, or helping students during the school year.

I like to use different methods to help students improve in the areas that they need help with. Hands on with coloring, manipulatives, or cut and paste; technology such as computer websites or iPad apps; using general basic ways to help students.

Sometimes a student just needs someone to slow down and help them with what they have learned.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Motivated and Patient — Amber has been prepared for the tutoring sessions. She is creative in her approach. My twin daughters like her kind and patient ways of explaining math. I would highly recommend Amber and look forward to having her work with my daughters getting them ready for fifth grade. ...
