About Tim

Having worked in the advertising and marketing departments at companies large and small, I am familiar with what is required in making great design with the Macintosh or PC operating system. I have extensive experience in designing for product, events and promotions. While I am mostly experienced in designing for print, I have designed web sites and mobile apps. A lifetime of art training and 15+ years of industry work have prepared me for any design job, and I have taught drawing and painting.

I approach a broad method in my instruction, not getting bogged down in details until the general goal is established. There are many ways in traditional art and in computer-aided art to achieve great results, and the student will learn to choose the best method for himself to reach that goal. I will help facilitate that choice, and then expertise can be formed.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign is one of my proficiencies, as I've had over 12 years experience. I have laid out documents from 1-160 pages and can teach best practices in all areas of the program.
