About Clifford

I offer experience working in the Florida, Alabama, Colorado and Georgia criminal justice systems respectively. Academically, I have been a College Professor for over 18 years as well. I believe that in order for a student to learn, it is important to determine the learning style that the student will respond to. Once that style is identified, then the learning process will be adjusted to that style in an effort to maximize the student's learning potential. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice is defined as the group of practices; legislative, law enforcement, and legal policies and court systems designed to uphold social responsibility, deterring and
mitigating crimes and enforcing penalties against those who are found guilty of committing crimes, and utilizing punishment to create an atmosphere that is conducive to rehabilitating and transforming offenders into productive citizens. My experience in this subject matter includes extensive work or managerial experience in the Florida, Alabama, Colorado and Georgia criminal justice systems. This work has been included the juvenile, adult, probation, intensive probation, drug court, and investigations for the Colorado Judicial system, Fulton County Superior Court, Alabama Department of Youth Services, and the Eckerd Youth Developmental center. I have also taught in the Colorado and Georgia College and University systems for over 17 years.

Religion

Religion is a discipline that describes the service and worship of God or the supernatural, it is also a personal set or an institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices. It is a term that is used to define God's relationship to man, man studying God, and utilizing that relationship to develop one's character.

My religious experience includes formal training Heritage Institute of Ministry at the Heritage Christian Center, 1 year of completion of M. Div. coursework at the International Theological Center-Morehouse School of Religion. I am a licensed minister, and have worked in various capacities in the church for over 16 years. I have designed curriculums for new members classes and various discipleship classes.

Social Studies

Social studies as defined by the United States Americans National Council for the Social Studies is the "integrated study of the social sciences and humanities to promote civic competence."

More specifically, Social studies is most commonly recognized as the name of a course or set of courses taught in primary and secondary schools or elementary, middle, and secondary schools, but may also refer to the study of aspects of human society at certain post-secondary and tertiary schools around the globe.

Although Social studies is not synonymous with sociology or social science; some courses borrow heavily from the social and political sciences, whereas others are created independently for schools. By contrast with sociology, social studies courses often consist of a general and opinion-led discussion of topics without reference to academic theorists or research.

Many such courses are interdisciplinary and draw upon various fields, including sociology but also political science, history, economics, religious studies, geography, psychology, anthropology, and civics.

As a result, I bring an educational background in a sociology discipline coupled with the practical background of training in a certified religious studies discipline as well. I have experience tutoring in Social Studies that I bring from an institution of higher learning.
