New York University (Master's)
Hi there! My name is Norma Jean, I'm a historian with a BA in History (focus in anthropology and archaeology) and a master's from NYU in Public History and Archives. I've over six years of teaching experience at the museum level, focusing on a wide variety of subjects: science, English and history. I've worked with all age groups preschool through college and have developed curriculums that focus on helping students prepare for standardized tests, learn important concepts and engage in critical thinking. I teach a variety of workshops on a wide range of topics, from improving study skills for the college student to teaching elementary school kids the importance of military inventions to our everyday lives (a fun workshop where kids make silly puddy!). I feel tutoring one-on-one has the power to build confidence since it's tailored to everyone's unique learning style, and this can make the studying and learning process more enjoyable!
While I love teaching the younger kids, I also love writing and editing. As a published author, I enjoy nothing more then reading and writing! I've been editing and critiquing papers/essays since college and across a wide spectrum from corporate correspondences to college entrance essays. I'd love to work with you to help define your writing style. If any of this is what you are looking for, let's connect and get you the help you need to achieve personal success! Hi there! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
