I approach ACT tutoring with a blend of formal training and hands-on experience that gives students both clarity and confidence. I hold a bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in rhetoric, along with supplementary coursework in math pedagogy, which allows me to teach every section of the ACT with both content knowledge and strategy in mind. Over the past several years, I have worked with high school students from freshman year through senior year, helping them strengthen foundational skills while learning how to navigate a timed, high-stakes exam. My background also includes training in test-taking psychology, which I integrate into sessions to help students reduce anxiety and perform at their true potential.
My tutoring experience ranges from one-on-one sessions to small-group instruction, both in person and online. I’ve supported students who were starting far below their target scores as well as those aiming for top-percentile results, and I adapt my approach according to their learning style, pace, and goals. I focus heavily on diagnostic evaluation so students can see exactly where they’re losing points, and then I teach targeted strategies—such as eliminating distractors in Reading, mastering grammar patterns in English, and applying efficient shortcuts in Math. In Science, I emphasize interpretation over memorization, helping students understand the exam’s structure rather than worrying about content they don’t need.
Above all, I work to build a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating progress. My goal is to help them walk into test day prepared, practiced, and self-assured. As an ACT tutor, I aim to provide not just instruction but mentorship, giving students the tools and mindset they need to reach and often exceed their score goals.
